What is the Reaction Pack?
The Reaction Pack consists of software based on a dynamic simulator as the main teaching material, together with supplementary materials such as workbooks that help trainees better understand the course content and instructor slides developed so that instructors can teach the material clearly. For reactors, which can be called the heart of chemical and petroleum plants, trainees acquire, through simulator operation, the design principles of the equipment based on reaction engineering, as well as methods for analyzing data from existing equipment and test facilities. Taking gas-phase reaction in a fixed bed and liquid-phase reaction in a continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR) as examples, this pack allows trainees to learn stoichiometry, thermodynamics, chemical equilibrium, and reaction kinetics, which are fundamental matters in equipment design, and to acquire the analysis methods used to obtain the data required for such equipment design.
Target Processes
Continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR)

CONTINUOUS STIRRED TANK REACTOR (CSTR)
Fixed-bed gas-phase reactor

FIXED BED VAPOR PHASE REACTOR
Target Users and Expected Benefits
This pack is intended mainly for staff in production departments (plant operators, process engineers) and for production engineering researchers involved in equipment design and its implementation in plant facilities. It is recommended for those with an interest in the following:
- Those who want to deepen their knowledge of stoichiometry, heat of reaction, and related topics, and who are interested in understanding the design philosophy behind actual reactors
- Those who want to learn how equipment involving reactions is designed
- Those who want to learn how to collect and organize data on chemical reactions at research and test facilities, and apply this to equipment design
